Irish fruit distributor Fyffes said that 2003 full year results are now anticipated to be more than €4m (US$5m) ahead of expectations.
The group has achieved an improved performance since the last trading update at the announcement of its half year results on 4 September 2003, mainly in its continental European businesses.
Consequently, the group expects to report profits before exceptional items and goodwill amortisation for 2003 close to the equivalent result in 2002.
A number of transactions arose during the year which will be reported as exceptional items including the disposal of several properties, the termination of certain operations and other once-off costs. The net effect of these items is expected to be an additional profit of approximately €5m.
