Ireland-based private-label group Greencore has revealed it has received an approach to buy the business.

An unnamed party has registered its interest in Greencore, which makes own-label products for retailers in the UK and the US.

“The board would like to emphasise that the discussions are at a preliminary stage and there can be no certainty whether any offer will be forthcoming,” Greencore said today (25 October).

Shares in Greencore were up 9.5% on the Irish stock exchange at EUR0.68 at 16:40 BST.
