Irish ingredients, flavours, and consumer foods producer Kerry Group has named Stan McCarthy as chief executive designate.

McCarthy is slated to succeed Hugh Friel, who will retire as CEO and director at the end of the year.

McCarthy, who joined Kerry Group in 1976, is president of Kerry Americas, a position he has held since 1996. The company said he would continue to serve as Kerry Americas president while he transfers to his new position.

Gerry Behan has been appointed president and CEO-designate of Kerry Americas, and will take up the position officially on 1 January next year.

Behan, who has been with Kerry since 1986, has held a number of finance and operational positions. Behan will be responsible for leading the company’s regional ingredient businesses in Canada, the US and Latin America.  He has been senior vice president and chief operating officer of Kerry Americas since 2004.
