Irish retailer Musgrave has confirmed that it plans to freeze staff pay until the end of the year and eliminate around 20 positions.

“We have implemented a pay freeze until the end of the year in Ireland for staff above a certain level,” a spokesperson for the company told just-food today (30 March). “For everyone else we will await the outcome of the discussions on the National Wage Agreement in Ireland.”

The spokesperson added that job losses would come from across the business.

“Regrettably due to reduced volumes, we announced that out of a workforce of 2,800 in Ireland that we will be making less than 20 roles redundant,” the spokesperson said.
