Premier Foods has sold Erin Foods to Irish firm Maiden Acquisition Co. for an undisclosed sum.

The sale satisfies conditions made by the Ireland’s competition watchdog following Premier’s acquisition of RHM Foods last year.

However, as permitted under those guidelines, Premier will continue to produce and market soups under the Erin brand on a licensed basis. Maiden said it would focus on Erin Foods’ sauces and gravy business.

Erin operates a factory at Thurles in County Tipperary, employing 140 people. The company had a book value of EUR2.5m (US$3.7m) on 30 July last year.
