Anthony Alan Foods has said it has appointed Stafford Lynch as distributor throughout Ireland for its Weight Watchers brand of cakes and chilled savouries, effective 1 May 2005. 


“The healthy eating sector in Ireland is a very young market with enormous potential,” said Tony Moloney, managing director of Anthony Alan Foods.


Anthony Alan’s products are already successful in the Irish market, where four out of five healthy eating low fat cakes sold are Weight Watchers, supplied by the company. 


“Whilst we dominate the market, it is relatively small,” added Moloney. “We needed a partner capable of helping us grow the whole healthy eating sector in the Irish market, just as we have in the UK and other markets.


“Based on our experience in other markets, we estimate we can grow the sector in Ireland by 600 or 700% in the next two to three years,” Moloney said.
