Food exports from Israel to North America rose by 33%, to nearly US$60m, in the first 5 months of 2003 compared with the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labour.

Food exports from Israel to the US are projected to reach $150m by the year’s end.

The “Fine Foods from Israel” campaign, initiated by Zohar Peri, the Israeli economic attache in New York and the Israeli Export Institute, showing some of the most popular Israeli food products available in the North America, is claimed to have boosted sales.

The campaign “is partly in response to the boycott of Israeli products by several European countries,” reported The Jerusalem Post.
