Goose liver export from Israel will amount to 250 tonnes for the 2000/2001 season, valued at approximately US$10m, according to Agrexco, Israel’s agricultural export company. The company is applying a new marketing strategy by developing new markets for its goose liver, moving on from France, which was for many years the main market for Israel’s goose liver. Among the new markets are the US, where the product is shipped in a half-cooked condition; Japan, Germany and Belgium where sales returns proved to be some 30% higher than those attained on the French market.
