The export of food from Israel to Russia will be up this year by about 40%, according to the Export Institute of Israel.


Shraga Brosh, chairman of the Institute, noted that sales returns from selling Israeli food items on the Russian market this year will reach US$23m, after several years of stagnated growth.


He noted that during the first six months of 2004 exports of Israeli food to Russia was up 52.6%, compared with the same period last year.


The main food items exported from Israel to Russia are fruits and vegetables, raw materials for local Russian food processors, confectionery, tea, coffee, fresh salads, dairy products, conserves and sweets.
