Israeli food group Osem has said it is looking to target US consumers wanting to eat more vegetables with the launch of two more products to its Veggie Patch range in the country.
Through US subsidiary Tribe Mediterranean Foods, Osem has developed roasted red pepper falafel and Moroccan red lentil cakes. The products have a suggested retail price of US$4.49 and are rolling out this month.
“The two new vegetable products debut as attention increases on the benefits of vegetables. Studies show that Americans are not eating enough fruits and veggies and more and more Americans are looking for ways to incorporate vegetables into their diets,” Veggie Patch brand manager Lynn Stachnick told just-food.
Nestle owns a 51% stake in Osem and Stachnick emphasised the “benefits” the company’s backing could bring.
“There continues to be tremendous potential to leverage global resources, which will continue to benefit the Veggie Patch brand as it grows and matures within the US market,” she said.
