Japanese dairy product manufacturer Meiji Holdings is planning to double its sales in south-east Asia.

Meiji has outlined a target of building its sales in the region from JPY9.7bn (US$118.1m) to JPY20bn through a five-year investment programme through its local venture with Thai conglomerate CP Group.

Under the plans, the venture, called CP-Meiji, will invest JPY5bn.

“A new plant will be built at the current site in Bangkok for manufacturing yoghurt and lactic acid bacteria drinks, and the production capacity will be doubled,” said a spokesman.

Established in 1989, CP-Meiji is a major regional dairy products supplier to south-east Asia, notably Singapore and Malaysia.
