Japanese convenience store operator FamilyMart is to buy 30 outlets from convenience store chain Keiji Seico Mart on 30 May 2003.

The two companies are to sign an agreement on the purchase on 29 January.

Keiji Seico Mart, a subsidiary of alcoholic beverages and food retailer Shiga Shuhan, currently operates 45 outlets in the Shiga and Kyoto prefectures in central Japan.

FamilyMart, an affiliated company of trading company Itochu Corp, has almost 6,000 outlets in Japan and nearly 3,000 abroad, reported the Japanese News Digest.
