Japan’s fourth largest hamburger chain, Freshness Burger Co, will become a holding company next April, according to company officials, and then list the chain on the Jasdaq over-the-counter stock market in October to raise funds for expansion.

Freshness Burger launched onto the market in 1992 and currently operates 156 outlets, mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Company president, Mikio Kurihara, told the Jiji Press however that the chain is mulling expansion into cafes and Japanese sweet shops.


From April, the holding company will also control three other chains recently established as separate subsidiaries, one serving US-style food and two serving Japanese cuisine.
