Supermarket group Lawson last week opened the first store developed under its new principle of suiting the store to its immediate surroundings, rather than producing a uniform chain of outlets.

The store, in Tokyo’s Chiyoda Ward, is situated in an office building, and Lawson explained to Asia Pulse that because of this environment, the store will be open from 7am to 11pm, not 24 hours like its other stores. It will also tailor the selection of food and other products it carries to meet the needs of office workers.

Lawson added that it plans to open many other stores under this design principal.
