Lawson, Japan’s number two convenience store chain by market share, has recorded first-half group net profit of ¥4.56bn (US$36.6m), a fall of 60.2% from a year earlier.
Operating profit for the six months to 31 August 2002 was ¥20.68bn, compared to ¥23.25bn for the first-half of last year.
The company recorded revenue of ¥131.02bn, down 1.6% from a year earlier.
The results were slightly higher than the company’s April estimates of ¥3.5bn net profit on revenue of ¥130.7bn.
The company has revised its previous ¥10bn net profit forecast for the full year to ¥8.10bn.
