The Japanese subsidiary of US burger behemoth McDonald’s has joined forces with Internet investor Softbank to offer high-speed Web access at 3,900 fastfood restaurants in Japan.

According to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, the two companies will install wireless LAN (local area network) access points at McDonald’s to provide fast Internet access.

The news report said Softbank would begin testing the wireless Internet service at McDonald’s outlets in Tokyo as early as this month, before gradually introducing it to other areas.
