Japanese dairy firm Morinaga Milk Industry reportedly plans to expand ice cream production in response to growing demand.

According to a report from the Asia Pulse news agency, the company will invest JPY1.7bn (US$18.4m) to install a second production line at the plant that produces the Parm ice cream brand. This will double production capacity to 15,000-20,000 cases per day.

The company has seen ice cream sales rise by 30% as consumers eating at home increase their purchases of multipack ice cream bars.
