France’s trade minister Pierre Lellouche has called on Japan to open frontiers to French food products.

Lellouche said this was a prime condition of France agreeing to a free-trade agreement between Japan and the EU.

In his recent visit to Japan, where he attended the Foodex trade show, in Chiba, near Tokyo, Lellouche said it would be good if Japanese consumers could get access to such products French beef, ham and dry sausage. However, at the moment, this was very difficult because of trade controls, Lellouche added.
