The restructuring plan of failed supermarket chain Niko Niko Do Co could soon get a boost of between ¥7bn (US$53.9m) and ¥10bn from Japanese independent fund manager Schroder Ventures Co Ltd.

Schroder, which is affiliated with British Schroder Ventures Ltd, said yesterday [Monday] that it is mulling sponsorship of the chain.

Niko Niko Do is due to elect its sponsor and form a restructuring plan by the end of this month. Other candidates for sponsorship are Japanese supermarket operators Sunny Co and Izumi Co.
