Japan-based food retailer Seven & I Holdings has opened a new online mall, ‘Seven Net Shopping’, stocked with five million items.
The service consolidates the online presence of the group’s department stores, supermarkets and convenience stores, while adding 32 outside specialist retailers, including record labels and an animation studio.
The retail giant plans to increase the number of specialist retailers to 360, and the number of items offered to 10m, by 2011.
Launched yesterday (8 December), Seven Net Shopping features goods in 11 categories, including food, drink and home & kitchen.
Seven & I has partnered with Yahoo! Japan – the country’s leading search-engine – in the initiative to drive web traffic to what a spokesman called a “circulating cloud portal.”
