Japanese retailer Seven & I Holdings and Yahoo Japan have struck a deal to identify the most popular foods sold in the country on the internet and develop them into a new line-up for brick-and-mortar stores.
First data from the 3,000 food-related retailers who use Yahoo will be used to set up a permanent retail space this month at Seven & I’s Seibu department store in Tokyo.
The company will then whittle down a list of its most popular products online to a few hundred lines via public votes to be marketed by Seven-Eleven Japan Co.
