Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has banned imports of chicken meat from across the US, following an outbreak of avian influenza at poultry farms in the US state of Connecticut.

The ministry said that it would scale down the ban to include only poultry imports from the state of Connecticut if it can confirm that the virus is weak and that appropriate measures have been taken to contain the outbreak, reported Jiji Press.
