Cereal giant Kellogg is launching a whole grain muesli offering in Australia.
Kellogg's Five Whole Grain Muesli claims to be "the first muesli formation on the market" to contain the five whole grains – rolled oats, wheat, barley, triticale and rye.
The product is "minimally processed", contains no artificial flavours or colours, is low in salt, and the sugar comes from the fruit pieces. Spices such as cinnamon have been added to deliver "a unique flavour" and the cereal also contains apricot, cranberry, seeds, nuts and coconut slivers.
Dr Michelle Celander, senior nutrition and regulatory affairs manager for Kellogg's operations in Australia and New Zealand, said whole grains and fibre are an important part of the daily diet and breakfast is the perfect opportunity to make sure people are well on their way to meeting their requirements.
"Muesli has to be one of the tastiest ways to get both whole grains and fibre at breakfast and, like most breakfast cereal, muesli can be enjoyed in many different ways. I usually top mine with a little yoghurt and some fresh berries," Dr Celander said.
Kellogg’s Five Whole Grain Muesli is available in two flavours, Sun-dried Apricot, Cranberries & Pepitas; and Roasted Almonds, Coconut & Flame Raisins. It is on sale with an RRP A$4.49 (US$3.43) for 450g.
