Unilever is to set up a new production site in Kenya and move out of its current facility in central Nairobi.
The Royco stock maker is relocating from the centre of the capital to a “brand new more spacious site”, a spokesperson told just-food today (24 September). Unilever is lining up US$190m of investment for the project.
The plant will be used for both Unilever’s food and non-food businesses in the country.
“It will therefore cover the full range of products but allow us to upgrade to a brand new state-of-the-art facility operating to the highest environmental and energy efficiency standards and with better transport links,” the spokesperson said.
Further details could not be disclosed “at this stage”, he added.
