Lactalis has launched a “protein replacement” product in the UK under its Italian cheese brand, Galbani.
Galbani Mozzarella Grill is “an innovative, convenient and wholesome protein replacement, which, thanks to a unique recipe, is specific to hot use”, Lactalis said.
The new product is available in packs containing two pre-cut slices, “which can be heated in just two minutes”, Lactalis said. “The versatile new product, with its authentic Galbani Mozzarella flavour, is sure to appeal to vegetarians and flexitarians looking for something tasty and healthy, either as part of a main meal or as a quick snack.”
Mike Chatters, sales director at Lactalis McLelland, the UK arm of Lactalis, said the new product “taps into a number of key insights and trends”.
According to Chatters, “hot usage of cheese is a growing area”. He said 76% of mozzarella usage is hot, “suggesting an opportunity for a bespoke ready-to-heat mozzarella product”.
A Lactalis spokesperson told just-food Galbani Mozzarella Grill is now on sale in 160g packs, in Asda and Waitrose stores across the UK, at an RSP of GBP2.19 (US$2.83).
