Lactalis is aiming for the facility to produce around 40,000 metric tonnes of quark and 104,000 metric tonnes of whey by 2030.
The plant would reach a total annual production volume of approximately 308,000 metric tonnes.
The Neuburg site, which also specialises in producing milk, cream, yogurts and desserts, will move to a continuous three-shift system running seven days a week.
It will be supported by approximately 70 additional employees, Lactalis said in a statement.
Lactalis has six sites in Germany and employs around 1,300 staff in the country.
In September, the owner of the Lactel and Président brands announced plans to invest €1bn into “modernising” its manufacturing sites in France. At the time, the world’s largest dairy company said it had set out a programme until 2030 to “modernise and improve the performance” of its domestic facilities.
The investment in France will focus on developing production equipment, innovation and decarbonisation, with projects already lined up the expansion of its Petit Basque cheese production plant in Larceveau alongside new lines at its Bouvron and Bayeux facilities.
In July last year, Lactalis said it would close a dairy manufacturing site in Australia in July. The company said the move followed a “detailed review of its operations and long-term manufacturing footprint across Australia”.
Earlier this month, Lactalis snapped up Protein Works, a UK business centred on protein-packed products. Set up in 2012, Protein Works markets products centred on protein including powders, shakes and bars.
