Latvian confectioner Laima has posted turnover worth 7 million lats (US$11.6m) in the first half of 2002.

This represents a 19.6% rise on the same period of last year. Laima said that the results for the half accounted for 43% of the year’s overall predicted forecast, which is in line with expectations given the boost confectioners usually gain towards Christmas.

Exports are up 3% on 2001, while it is not yet known whether the company is operating at a profit.
