Marfrig Global Foods has elected Miguel de Souza Gularte as the new chief executive of the Brazilian meat processor to replace José Eduardo de Oliveira Miron.

The new CEO has been at the company since 2018 and was most recently heading up Marfrig’s beef operations in Brazil and South America more generally having accumulated almost 40 years’ experience in the meat sector.

Marfrig said in a statement its North American operations will continue to be led by Tim Klein who has been serving as the CEO of National Beef Packing Company since July 2009. The meat processor acquired a majority stake in the US-based business in 2018 for US$969m.

Meanwhile, a new finance chief has also been installed in the form of Tang David, who is currently an executive officer at Marfrig, and he will also hold the positions of chief administrative officer and head of investor relations. Marco Antonio Spada will relinquish those roles to make way for the new CFO.
