
Marine Harvest hailed a “strong” fourth quarter as it reported broadly flat operating profit this morning (4 February).
The company said fourth quarter EBIT totalled NOK1.03bn compared to NOK1.04bn in the year ago period. Sales in the three months hit a “record high” of NOK6.86bn, up from NOK6.74bn.

CEO Alf-Helge Aarskog stressed that the company is well-positioned moving into 2015, having invested in feed production in Norway and agreed merger with AquaChile in Chile. “I’m excited about the contemplated merger with AquaChile. Our already strong position within salmon farming in Chile will be further strengthened, and the combined entity will benefit the entire Chilean industry from a sustainability point of view,” said Aarskog.
