Ion Beam Applications (IBA) and MDS Nordion announce that they have officially opened their new joint venture irradiation facility in Mexico. This new facility, under the name NGS Enterprises (“NGS”), represents an investment of nearly USD 7 million and it offers unique product separation and processing capabilities to service customers in the medical device, food and cosmetic industries.

Located in the city of Tepeji, 60 kilometers from Mexico City, the facility hosted its Grand Opening ceremony on Friday, April 7, 2000 and is already servicing medical device and food customers. The opening was attended by 300 people, including the Governor of the State of Hidalgo, Angel Manuel Nunez, and over 250 customers. The project was conceived in mid-1997 and construction started in mid-1999.

As Dave Meyer, President of IBA’s North America Operations pointed out, “NGS enhances our commitment in Mexico and joins our ethylene oxide sterilization operation in Mexico City.
