The International Dairy Federation (IDF) has admitted Lithuania as a new member, bringing IDF’s global representation up to 55 countries.
Lithuania’s admission comes a day after it was announced that Brazil had also joined the IDF.
Lithuania’s National Committee will be chaired by Bronius Markauskas, chairman of the Chamber of Agriculture and the Lithuanian National Committee will be hosted by the Lithuanian Chamber of Agriculture.
“Dairy products and exports of dairy products have become an important activity for our national economy. For this reason, we follow closely the development of international standards to ensure that the national regulations are aligned with them. We are also very much interested in gathering advice on practical implementation of international standards and regulations.” said Lithuania’s representative Saulius Savickis after the Baltic nation was welcomed as a new IDF member.
“We are pleased to welcome Lithuania as new IDF member. Lithuania has always taken part actively in IDF events and we look forward to seeing increased participation of Lithuanian experts in the IDF working groups. ”said Christian Robert, IDF director general.
