Mexican poultry company Industrias Bachoco has expanded its business in the north of the country with the acquisition of beef and chicken processor Trosi de Carnes.
The company announced yesterday (23 August) that it had reached an agreement with Grupo OSIG to acquire the assets of Trosi de Carnes, based in Monterrey, with immediate effect.
With annual sales of approximately MXN250m (US$20.1m), Trosi de Carnes produces and sells processed beef and chicken to Mexican companies, as well as Puerto Rico and Central America.
Rodolfo Ramos, Bachoco’s chief executive officer, said the purchase will allow Bachoco to diversify its product line and utilise the experience of an established company.
He said: “This acquisition fits into Bachoco’s strategy as it reinforces our leadership in processed chicken products, which is a growing product line in Mexico. This acquisition will allow Bachoco to better serve current and future customers, while advancing the company’s strategy of becoming a top food company in Mexico.
