US doughnut maker and retailer Krispy Kreme has opened its first store in Mexico, located in Interlomas, a suburb of Mexico City.
The company plans to open 20 stores in Mexico over the next six years.
“Krispy Kreme’s expansion into Mexico is an exciting and long-awaited event,” said CEO Scott Livengood.
Krispy Kreme currently operates more than 345 stores in the US, Canada, Mexico, Australia and the United Kingdom. The company has been carrying out a major international expansion in the last year, opening its first store outside North America in Australia in June 2003. It opened its first European store in London in October 2003.
