Japanese food producer Mizkan has introduced a line of chutneys under the Branston brand in the UK.
The chutneys, available in caramelised onion and Mediterranean tomato are initially available in Sainsbury’s and Morrisons. The launch will be supported by a GBP1.9m (U$3m) brand campaign, which runs until February.
Victoria Adams, Branston brand manager at Mizkan’s European subsidiary, said: “We spotted a gap in the market for an entry level everyday range of chutneys that appeal to the consumers’ sense of Britishness, so now is the time for us to build on our position as the number one brand in pickles and relish and establish ourselves in a new category that offers growth potential to retailers.”
