MOLDOVA: Meat to carry sell-by date in government measure to protect consumers
The Moldavian government has ordained that all meat products sold in Moldova must clearly display a country of origin and an expiry date. The new rule will take effect from 1 July this year. Currently, the domestic meat market trades in many products that do not carry such information and the move is designed to bring Moldova into line with obligatory international standards. The government also says it hopes the extra information will help protect consumers in their choice of foods.
