Mondelez International is to launch a chocolate brand, Cadbury Dark Milk, in Australia next month.

The snacks giant said the new product “will play a distinct role in the Cadbury portfolio, and will appeal to a new segment of Australians”.

The new line “is positioned above Cadbury Dairy Milk milk chocolate as a more special product within the Cadbury portfolio at an accessible price”, Mondelez said.

Available in four variants – Perfectly Blended Chocolate, Crunchy Salted Caramel, Sweet Zingy Raspberry and Roasted & Caramelised Hazelnuts – the brand has been developed “to accommodate the ever-evolving consumer and the changing palate”, Mondelez said. “It’s a brand new chocolate taste experience that delivers the perfect blend of rich cocoa notes and the smooth creaminess of milk chocolate.”

Mondelez’s associate director chocolate, Paul Chatfield, said the group was “confident” the product will be “a hit amongst Australians because it adds an exciting twist to the chocolate we all know and love”.

Cadbury Dark Milk will be available at all major retailers nationally from May at an RRP of AUD5 (US$3.76).
