Nestle is reintroducing Allen's Jelly Tots to the Australian market, this time with no artificial colours and with portion advice on packs.
The product has been relaunched 11 years after Nestle stopped selling the product. A Facebook page was launched campaigning for its return.
In a statement, Nestle said the packs had been redesigned to feature the names of "real ingredients rather than confusing numbers" and the product joins the Allen's 100% no artificial colours range of products.
Martin Brown, general manager of Nestle's confectionery business in Australia, said the changes to the Allen's range were part of the company's ongoing initiatives to help people improve their nutrition, health and wellness.
Nicole Senior, accredited practising dietitian and nutritionist, said the move was a welcome one.
"Parents are looking for more natural ingredients and they are looking for labels that they can understand. Treats are okay in moderation. It’s important to understand portions so that you can make good decisions when it comes to the foods you eat."
