Nestle has launched Nesquik Protein Plus in the US, a drink aimed at “young-at-heart adults” with a taste for chocolate milk and more protein in their diets.

The company said Protein Plus, available in chocolate and vanilla flavours, contains 23g of protein in each 14oz bottle. “Nesquik is staying true to its larger commitment to deliver products that provide nutritional benefits, while still maintaining a great taste,” the company said.

Nestle said the new product “is made with real milk from cows not treated with the added growth hormone rBST (although no significant difference has been shown between milk from rBST treated and non-rBST treated cows) and contains 28% less sugar than the leading protein-enhanced flavoured milk”.

Much of Nestle’s work this year on its product range on the sale has involved changes to “simplify” the recipes behind the lines. Last month, Nestle pledged to stop using artificial flavours, colours or preservatives in frozen food brand Stouffer’s.
