Nestle has launched a no-added-sugar cereal line under its Uncle Tobys oats brand in Australia.

The company said Uncle Tobys Nature’s Mix sachets of oats are “naturally sweetened with dried fruit and healthy nuts”.

Nestle said the new product, which is “ready to eat in 90 seconds”, is made with “100% Australian whole grain oats and no artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners. Each 40g sachet contributes more than 50% towards a 48g whole grain daily consumption target, the food giant said.

Nature’s Mix is available in two eight-sachet pack variants: Sultana, Apple & Cinnamon and a three-flavour “variety pack”, comprising the flavours Sultana, Apple & Cinnamon; Currant, Coconut & a Hint of Raspberry and Hazelnut, Macadamia & Almond.

Anne-Marie Mackintosh, Nestle’s regional nutrition manager for cereal, said the new product “is designed specifically for oat lovers, who we know want a delicious breakfast option with no added sugar”.

Nestle said its research indicated “consumers prioritise nutritional sugar” when shopping for themselves or their families, “with 78% of Australians looking for no added, low or reduced sugar products”.
