Nestle is to remove artificial flavours and cut salt from the pizzas and snacks it sells in the US.
The DiGiorno and Hot Pockets owner said all artificial flavours would go by the end of the year. The level of salt will be reduced by 10% compared to the amounts in the products in 2013. The moves take in over 250 frozen products, Nestle said.
Information will also be placed on packaging to "help educate consumers on choosing appropriate portion sizes and the importance of eating vegetables and fruits as part of a balanced plate", Nestle said.
New products launched this spring and summer – including Hot Pockets Snack Bites – will follow this policy, Nestle said.
In February, Nestle announced plans to remove artificial flavours and colours from chocolate products sold in the US.
