Nestle is to manufacture Peanut Butter Cups in the UK for export to the US to meet rising demand.

The company said its site in Halifax, West Yorkshire, will start production in October.

“US [plants] are still going to make these products but we will provide additional products following the demand,” Nestle’s UK business told just-food.

The food giant is investing GBP5.3m (US$8.12m) in its Halifax factory. It said the move will create 45 jobs. The plant makes Quality Street and After Eight chocolates, as well as Easter eggs. It employs up to 1,000 people at times of peak production.
