Nestle is launching a new line of "vegetable-infused" ravioli in the US under its Buitoni brand.

The line of refrigerated fresh pastas use vegetables to introduce colour and flavour to the dough, which is then stuffed with what Nestle termed the "finest fillings".

Buitoni's new range includes three varieties: spinach & artichoke filled with ricotta and parmesan; sweet bell pepper & roasted chicken; and three cheese & asparagus, which includes a blend of ricotta, Grana Padano, and Parmesan cheeses.

Erica Starrfield, Buitoni brand manager, said that the new line was a response to changing US consumer preferences. "Americans are looking for ways to incorporate vegetables into their meals in new and delicious ways. Our new line of vegetable-infused pastas bring exciting 'vegetable innovation' to a classic meal category."

The company is also launching chicken and roasted garlic tortelloni.
