Dutch retail giant Ahold has announced that it has appointed Dave McNally as chief information officer, effective September 2005, to lead the company in the next phase of its information management strategy.

In his new role, McNally will advise the Ahold corporate executive board and senior business executives on the strategic role and adoption of information technology throughout the organisation. He was previously chief information officer for Ahold’s US Foodservice business.

McNally succeeds Alex Gibbons who has decided to leave the company for personal reasons.
