Cees joined the retailer in 1994 and is currently EVP stores and distribution of Albert Heijn. As previously announced, Sander will succeed Dick Boer in March, when Boer becomes CEO of Ahold.

Cees has held various commercial and operational roles at the company since joining as a management trainee. In his new role, he will continue to report to Laan.

Dick Boer, COO Ahold Europe, said: “I’m very pleased that we have been
able to appoint a highly experienced Albert Heijn management team member to this role. Cees has made a significant contribution to Albert Heijn’s growth in recent years, and I am confident that he will continue to do so going forward.”
