Netherlands-based retailer Ahold has revealed plans to open an Albert Heijn pick up point at the Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam.
The company said the move targets holiday makers, who can order their shopping online whilst on vacation and then collect groceries at the airport on their return.
The retailer emphasised the ease of the service, with groceries placed by an Albert Heijn employee into consumers cars.
Commenting on the move, Sander can der Laan said the airport sees more than 50m passangers go through it each year and added that 64,000 people work on site. “We are pleased that we can provide so many people with a pick up point at this unique location,” he said.
The Schiphol pick up point is the eleventh location that Albert Heijn has rolled the service out in since it was launched last year.
