Dutch supermarket operator Ahold has confirmed it will announce the outcome of its strategic retail review on Monday 6 November 2006 at the company’s Amsterdam headquarters.

The objective of the review, which was initially announced by the firm earlier this year, was to “develop recommendations to accelerate the plans to drive and fund identical sales volume growth across Ahold’s global retail businesses”. The review includes a comprehensive analysis of Ahold’s portfolio of businesses and initiatives to reduce costs, the company added.

The review was prompted by Ahold president and CEO Anders Moberg and assigned to a team led by Dick Boer, president and CEO of the Albert Heijn Arena and acting member of Ahold’s corporate executive board. Other members of the review team include John Rishton, Ahold CFO, and Lawrence Benjamin, president and CEO of US Foodservice at the retailer.

Last week (27 October), Ahold received approval from the competition regulator NMa to buy 29 Konmar stores from fellow Dutch retailer Laurus.
