Some of the members of the supervisory board of Dutch retail giant Ahold are to step down after the next shareholders’ meeting at the end of October, according to a local press report.

Supervisory board chairman Henny de Ruiter is among those that are to leave, Dow Jones News reported, citing Dutch newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad. The only members of the supervisory board to stay on will be Jan Hommen and Karel Vuursteen, who were both appointed after Ahold revealed massive accounting irregularities in February.

The move is seen as a way of restoring investor confidence after the retailer’s US$1bn accounting scandal.
