Dutch retailer Albert Heijn, a unit of retail giant Ahold, has regained market share, according to the company’s investor relations officer, Henk Jan ten Brinke.
Ten Brinke said the latest research from ACNielsen showed that Albert Heijn had gained market share in the fourth quarter, following a long period of declining market share, reported Dow Jones International News.
In the first two quarters, the chain’s market share declined 1.2%, while for the full year, Albert Heijn’s share slid 0.9% from 27.5% in 2002.
The chain launched a price-cutting campaign in the latter part of 2003, aimed at winning back customers.
