Dutch science company DSM has said its DSM Food Specialties unit it to sell its hydrolysed vegetable protein (HVP) business and production site to Dutch food and flavour firm Oterap Holding.

“It is the strategy of DSM Food Specialties to focus on core activities and has therefore decided to divest its interests in the manufacture and sales of HVP based products, in order to further strengthen its position in yeast extract based processed flavours,” the company said.
DSM said Oterap intends to market the HVP activities under the Exter brand and company name.
