FrieslandCampina’s ingredients arm is set to expand its production plants amid increased demand for infant nutrition products in Asia.
The Dutch dairy giant plans to invest EUR130m (US$180.3m) to expand two plants in the Netherlands which will to double its production of infant formulas.

The company’s facility in Beilen with receive EUR100m to expand its mixing capacity and install a new drier and packaging line for infant nutrition. Meanwhile, EUR30m will be invested into the the Bedum plant, to increase the processing capacity for demineralised whey ingredients.
Herman Ermens, MD of the company’s FrieslandCampina Domo unit, said: “These investments will allow us to help our customers achieve long-term growth in infant nutrition.”
The Beilen plant currently employs over 500 staff. Over the next two years, this will rise to more than 600. The 72 Bedum staff will also increase with three extra jobs.
The expansion is expected to be completed in 2013.
